Thanks for you comments and suggestions Colin. We are looking to check and where necessary improve the way marking in a new project with North Lindsay College. However we do try to say to people that they should carry OS maps and we have made the directions and maps on the website downloadable. The main emphasis on way-marking has always been assist walkers where the route is difficult to follow.

Good walking! Ian Harrison

Hi Ian,

I am trying to get hold of the walk organiser. Last year, one of the college members of staff was in talks with you about going around the route and checking for damages. We also have a supply of signs. We are very keen to start the project. If this is still of interest, please feel free to contact me on the attached email.

Cheers

Frenchy :D

I was discussing someone's plan to do the walk in one go and we were looking at the OS map that he had downloaded onto his phone. DELIGHTED to see that the OS have marked and named THE PEATLANDS WAY on their latest maps.

Very enjoyable walk through some extremely interesting countryside and villages. Found way marking to be generally poor, however route easily navigable with aid of OS map. Transportation links ok. :) :)

Well that was a smashing walk.
I had 12 people in the end make the walk, we started at 6am from Thorne and cracked on at approx. 4.5mph until it got dark at about 6pm (we had reached the village hall in Hatfield Woodhouse)
We followed the path pretty ridged apart from the visit to Fishlake and Waterside (the council have the Jubilee bridge out of action again)
I amended the route to make it still a 50 so all were happy.
We finished in 16:45hrs including stops

I have given out all certs who turned up and can confirm:
Aaron Hookway is 117
Annabel Wood is 119
Duncan Whittall is 120
Frank Tonge is 121
Hilary Farren is 122
Julie Welch (who happens to be the editor for our national magazine ‘Strider’) is 123
Luke Bradley is 124
Nigel Bowler is 125
Peter Poppy is 127
Jamal Ashley is 128
Stuart Livingstone is 129
Sandy Gee (who happens to be treasurer for the national committee of the LDWA) is 130
