DONCASTER WALKING FESTIVAL 2012

As part of the Get Doncaster Walking Festival, The Humberhead Levels Green Tourism Forum are promoting The Peatlands Way Challenge Walk which is a great opportunity for local people to experience the wonders that the local environment has to offer. The route is 45 miles long and the idea of the Challenge is for people to complete the route in sections between June and December 2012, filling in a log each time.

CALLING ALL WALKERS

PEATLANDS WAY ANYTIME CHALLENGE



The Peatlands Way Challenge Walk is a great opportunity for local people to experience the wonders that the local environment has to offer. The whole Peatlands Way route is 50 miles long and the idea of the Challenge is for local people to complete the route in sections, filling in a log each time.

Once the full route has been completed the log sheet can be sent to the address below with a payment of £2 (cheques payable to the Humberhead Levels Green Tourism Forum) when a badge and certificate will be issued and the person's name entered on the Walk Register.

The Challenge is organised by the Humberhead Levels Green Tourism Forum in association with Natural England and the Long Distance Walkers Association together with the Communities along the route.

The Peatlands Way 50 Challenge Walk

The 2011 walk - Saturday 21st May

Report on the 2011 Annual Challenge Walk. The event on the 21st May 2011 was a great success with excellent weather conditions. The pictures below show the Mayor of Thorne Cllr. Bert-Maurice Chowings starting the event at TS Gambia, the sea-cadets HQ.

Though there were fewer entries than in previous years (probably due to having to change the date due to a clash with the Easter weekend) the participants did exceptionally well with 17 completing the full 50 miles. The timings were as follows: Check Point Times »
